26 Years of Building Pakistan's Industrial Future

Saigal Group was founded in 1999 by Amjad Shamim Saigal — not as a solar company, but as a textile manufacturing enterprise. As co-founder and Operations Director of Textilers (PVT) Ltd, Amjad built one of Karachi's largest sock manufacturing and export operations from the ground up, supplying some of the world's most recognised retail names: Walmart, Dollar Stores, Renfro Corporation, Preger & Wertenteil Inc (Gold Medal Hosiery) in the USA, Primark in the UK, and Auchan and Carrefour in France. At its peak, the facility operated over 1,200 knitting machines producing more than one 40-foot container of socks per day.

What made that operation possible was serious industrial engineering — and that responsibility fell to Amjad. Working alongside professional engineering consultants including MG Engineering, he designed and oversaw the installation of a 2-megawatt gas generator system, a 400-ton chilled water air conditioning plant, and waste heat recovery boilers on those generators — turning what would have been wasted exhaust heat into usable process energy. He also sourced production machinery across the United States and Europe, inspecting and commissioning used equipment that expanded capacity at a fraction of the cost of new machines.

This was fifteen years of hands-on industrial energy management: understanding peak demand, three-phase electrical loads, mechanical system integration, NEPRA tariff structures, and the real cost of downtime in a facility running multiple shifts. That technical foundation is not separate from the solar business — it is the solar business. Understanding how factories consume energy, and where solar saves the most, is precisely what separates a competent solar EPC firm from a panel reseller.

In 2014, Amjad was forced out of the company he had spent fifteen years building — by his own elder brother, whom he had always treated with the trust and loyalty of a father. He recognised that Pakistan's next major industrial challenge was energy — specifically, the collapse in solar costs and the arrival of reliable lithium battery storage. In 2020, he opened a solar shop in Faisalabad with modest starting capital, with early guidance from a cousin in the solar import business — National Machinery Corporation (NMC Group) — and the same methodical approach that had built Textilers.

What followed was rapid. By 2022, Saigal Solar had secured authorised dealer status for LONGi Solar — the world's largest solar panel brand by installed capacity. By end 2024 and into early 2025, the company was elevated to LONGi Flagship Store status — one of only a handful of dealers in Pakistan to hold this designation. In 2025, LONGi awarded Saigal Group the Project Execution Excellence Award, and the same year we expanded into electric mobility as the authorised Luyuan distributor for Faisalabad.

In 2026, we launched two new platforms: My Saigal Solar at my.saigal.us — a proprietary SaaS design tool that lets customers build their own solar quote online with live pricing from our actual inventory — and Saigal Dev, our software development division building custom digital solutions for Pakistani businesses. Today our installations span residential, commercial, and industrial sectors across Punjab, with clients including Image Garments, Kamal Group of Companies, Kintex, FM Textile, Dahome Textiles, SS International Group, and many more.
